Sigh….we all know what happened in 2020, so here is my story.

I am a mom of two and I have been working in the corporate world for over 10 years. The only time off I got was my 2 maternity leaves. Don’t feel bad, it was my decision to go back to work. I had my village and I used it as much as I could.
2020 was a year where everything paused and changed- some people went through drastic changes, but not all benefited from it.
As a corporate mom there were times I wished to be a SAHM ( stay at home mom) or have a job that allowed me to work from home. BUT I didn’t want to leave my job. My dream came true that March. right???
On a Sunday night in March, I received an email and a text letting me know that offices will be closed and everyone was now working remotely. Kids also were starting virtual school and our lives were different that night.
I started working from home, my kids were also home and my husband was home too.. no routines, no schedules, out of sync- it was a disaster. All of us home using Wifi which disconnected constantly. This was our story for two months. Full on chaos!

I consider myself pretty strong, able to handle any situation, but I was broken – this broke me.. I was exhausted, confused and worried. Nobody knew what was going to happen. A trip to a grocery store was exhausting, but the family still had to eat so we couldn’t avoid it. I couldn’t even use the delivery service- it was either gone or all booked. Nothing available.
Spring went by, summer flew and now we are in October with 83 days left in 2020. Working from home with kids is all consuming and tiring. I am not going to lie and I have two older kids, so I cannot imagine working from home with younger kids.
It is better now compared to the beginning. One of the things I accomplished to do for me was working out which has helped me a lot, especially with anxiety attacks. I am a fan of YouTube- so many free work out videos to choose from. I also started blogging (thanks for reading my blog) and sharing my stories on Instagram (Pam2k )
Plants and gardening – another hobby I picked up during quarantine and I must say I am super proud not one plant has died.. plants remind me of my mom- she has the green thumb. For our garden we added more beds this year. During the summer I would take a break from work and go talk to my plants(do I sound crazy?).

Now we are waiting for the holidays . Trying to enjoy what is left of this year. Hoping and praying everything will get better, but I still want to work from home. I want to be there for my kids and I want to build my career and not feel guilty about it. Mom guilt is real!! I don’t want to miss out on my kids. I only have 6 & 5 years left with them before they are off to college and I want them to see me as the mom that was happy because a happy mom offers a happy home.
